Nurse anesthetists have been providing anesthesia care to patients in the United States for nearly 150 years. CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) are anesthesia professionals who safely administer approximately 32 million anesthetics to patients each year in the United States, according to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) 2009 Practice Profile Survey.
Insurance and managed care plans recognize CRNAs for providing high-quality anesthesia care with reduced expense to patients and insurance companies. The cost-efficiency of CRNAs helps control escalating healthcare costs, making anesthesia more affordable for more people. For more information of how the CRNA is a valuable healthcare member, please visit the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist website, www.aana.com.
The education requirements to become a CRNA are extensive. Before admission to a graduate nurse anesthesia program, a candidate must have a four year Bachelor of Science degree and a current RN license, with a minimum of one year of intensive care experience. The master degree program is an additional 2-3 years. CRNAs are board certified and mandatory continuing education is required for recertification every two years. Aero Office Anesthesia staff exceed these requirements and are ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified by the American Heart Association. We are licensed and insured for the states of Kansas and Missouri.
